Managed Time & Material
Managed T&M is typically used in the context of small- to medium-size projects, where high-level objectives are defined and a budget needs to be managed. This engagement model provides monitoring & controlling on the efforts and costs spending, while offering some level of flexibility on scope and requirements management.
Most of OSB projects are delivered under this engagement model.
Dimension | Description / Impact |
---|---|
Control of the activities | In this mode, OSB is managing the resources and activities, including tasks allocation and priorities. An OSB Project Manager (a.k.a. Customer Success Manager or CSM) is allocated to the project when relevant. |
Pricing Model | The price of the service is based on the unit costs of the resources / profiles working on the project, typically on a daily rate basis. |
Budget Management | Prior to the start of the engagement, the customer requirements are analyzed, the required team composition defined, and the effort per resource / profile estimated. The budget is then calculated (effort to be delivered x effort unit costs) and validated with the client. Along project execution, actual spendings are monitored to understand how much of the initial budget is left, in order to take appropriate actions in coordination with the client. |
Scope Management | The scope that will be delivered is constrained by the budget cap. The priorities are discussed and negotiated with the client, and when the remaining budget will not cover the effort to deliver the expected scope, the decision has to be taken to either request additional budget accordingly, or reduce/change the scope to remain within the initial budget. |
Timeframe | A high-level project plan is established and negotiated with the client at the beginning of the project, depending on resources allocation and availabilities (on both sides). A typical duration for such engagements is ranging from a few weeks to a couple of months. |
Reporting | A regular reporting of the team achievements, scope delivered and budget status is provided to the client, e.g. on a weekly basis. A timesheet for the team activities is extracted from Avaza and provided to the client for approval on a monthly basis. |
Invoicing | The monthly invoice is sent to the client upon timesheet approval, based on contracted resource unit cost and approved effort. |
